It occurred to me that I haven't uploaded any of my charcoal drawings. This being deviantArt, it's probably best with Sonic the Hedgehog.
This was an assignment I drew last night for an art class. I was to draw a still life of three or four objects. The objects I chose are a Sonic figure, a duck thing I sculpted out of clay for another art class back in 2005, and a thing that I don't know what it is that my mother cast in glass earlier this year, which I set on a Tupperware container.
I took a picture of Sonic before drawing the other elements because I knew Sonic would probably look worse with other stuff around him. I was correct. I don't consider the drawing finished but I ran out of time. I did add some more shading around Sonic after I took the picture but it doesn't look significantly different. Except for the finger smudges along the edges.
Incidentally, while drawing this I listened to a Librivox audio book of The Metamorphosis. It's quite a different sort of story than I was expecting. I'd anticipated a Poe-ish sort of thing, but it's... I hesitate to call it a comedy, but it's definitely deliberately absurd in ways that forced me to stop drawing because I was laughing too hard to control the charcoal.
